Very Close now!

Hello friends. This will be the last update because the next blog will showcase a finished house and it will then become our home. We are finishing up final documentation with iMortgage and scheduled to close Sept 13, yes FRIDAY THE THIRTEENTH!!

Here is the house today. Stacey's house is in the back, mine is up front. Sorry that was funny right there. Garage doors are painted.

Trim still needs some painting.

Carpet was installed this week. Color of the carpet is very close to the wall color. We are getting colorful furniture and accessorizes to brighten everything up.

 Master bath lighting re-installed.

Hardwood floors sanded, stained and the first coat of urethane were done this week.

 Main floor bath lighting.

Check out how many white electrical plates are in this picture. More carpet goodness.

The bath with all the granite issues lighting. No facet installed.

Appliances are in! That's the "griddle in the middle" stove right there. Double gas ovens and cook top.

Fridge won't be installed until after closing. We had to buy that costly appliance.

Dishwasher shot. It still has some protection film on it.

And on the back deck is Stacey's fireplace

I snapped this last week. Power lines messed up my shot.

Stone

Hello all! We hit a lull in the home building process. Not much was completed the last few weeks that was blog worthy. But the last couple days we have had some activity.

More granite drama. Remember from the previous blog we had to go pick out replacement granite for the down stairs bath?
Here is the piece we picked out. See the "back wall" writing on the tape?

Here is the piece that was installed. Nope, nada, nyet, wrong answer, not the piece we picked out. Doesn't match the back splash. Granite cutters are freelancing. If we can't find the piece you picked out, you get what we pick out.

So we contacted Evelyn at Planet Granite and told her what happened. She fixed it. So out comes the granite and our granite was installed. The cutters still got it wrong. "back wall" is in the front. No biggie to me. It looks great.

Main bath mirror installed.

Master shower glass installed. The flash on my camera washes out the colors.

Here is our super mirror in the master bath. See how "warmer" the tile in the shower looks without the direct flash.

Entrance view of the rock fireplace.

Since the majority of the fireplace is outside (for outdoor use) we get the flush side.

Basement fireplace.

Exterior rock mostly installed and it just started raining.

Driveway, Granite and Lighting

7/26/2103
Missed a few weeks of blog time but this post will catch everyone up to the current state of the house. These pictures were taken over the last couple weeks.

Driveway was poured this week. Still missing some accent colors and rock work on the front of the house. Are those happy clouds?

The steps were the first to get poured.

Last to get poured was the sidewalk. Not sure what else the concrete guys could do to keep this women (assumed woman) from walking in the freshly poured cement. They had a big orange cone in the middle of the sidewalk with yellow tape warning people of the new cement. Nope didn't work. Come on GIRLS!!

Does everyone see the big orange cone?

Saddletree finishes off their concrete work with cool swirls. The front steps, driveway and back slab all have these fancies.

Back slab. The narrow pieces have squiggle lines.

Front door stained.

Kitchen center island granite holder pretties.

Oak mantel stain. Looks crooked in the picture. It's not, I hope.

Front door area. More oak stain coolness. Still needs some paint touch up.

Lighting, smoke detectors, outlets, thermostat, fans were all installed this week. These lights are in the front room office.

Chandelier over the stairs to the basement.

Oak railing with wrought iron posts. This is right below the picture above.

Kitchen has had a lot of work done. Look at the granite holders, Pendent lights, granite installed and grey slate back splash getting installed.

Under mount stink installed. Check out the Gold Brasil granite.

More gray slate back splash and glass\stone tile. Check out the granite counter bevel.

No grout in the back splash yet.

Master bath granite and back splash. Still missing the large mirror.

Shower tile finally got its grout on! This happened a couple weeks ago.

Master bath shower lighting.

Master bedroom fan.

Master Bedroom Fan control so you don't have to get out of bed.

Finished shelves for Stacey's shoes.

If  you want Stacey to get mad, mention the "coke" spill in the master bedroom bath tile. This spill has been sitting her for about a month now.

Now we got a problem. No one knows what happened but two pieces of granite we selected didn't make it to the main floor bath or the downstairs bath. Different pieces were selected, cut and installed. If we had been notified the lower level piece would not have been used. This piece has too much black and doesn't match the tile we picked out. We are going to replace it. Stacey and I are now granite snobs.

Main floor bath

Lower level bath Overwhelming!

This is the granite that should have been used.

Pendent lights and Mikey's head.

Dining room table light

Stairs to the basement.

Entrance door light.

Deck getting built. Trex type decking.

Down poured and water entered the house. Not sure how it got in.

Mechanical room shot. Couple weeks after the water incident. The basement stairs are on the other side of the back wall.

It has taken me a couple days to finished updating the blog so "right off the press are today's pictures"

Gray slate kitchen back splash got grouted.

Stacey's super duper wow outdoor fire place. This is the first time we've seen the outside view because the deck was just finished.

This poor light had now where to go. The light is outside the master bedroom door onto the deck. There wasn't a lot of room so it was wedged in between the fireplace mantel, gutter downspout and a window.

Master shower hardware installed. Can't wait to test out the rain shower head.

More main bath shower hardware.
This is our door bell. ummmmyeaaaah....this one did not break the bank.

Stacey and I went to Planet Granite to pick out the replacement lower bath granite. It wasn't easy but this was the piece we are going to use. The red outline is the side of the size of the vanity. Don't ask about the cockeyed tape on the right.
